Greenwood Park Brochure & Map

In a Nutshell

Offering something for everyone in all seasons, Greenwood Park is run by Broome County. The trails are numerous, offering relatively flat and wide trails. In winter, snowshoeing and cross country skiing is available. Summer offers a beach and boating.

Note: Some people have asked about the noticeable number of trees that have been cut down around the beach parking area. From the Broome County Parks and Recreation Office, I've been told they were removed due to safety issues and there are plans to plant new trees when appropriate season. Feb 2024

Location and Parking

The Park is located in a rural area on the western edge of Broome county and is accessible via county roads. Be aware that in winter, your GPS may take you on some backroads that are not as clear as the main roads. There are several parking lots. The main one near beach and then some by different shelters or camping. In the winter, some of the secondary lots may be closed.

More details

I've read that Greenwood was the county's first park and while it is a little off the beaten path, it is popular, particularly in the summer when swimming is open. They also offer paddle-boat and canoe rentals. They have about 50 camping sites. In winter, groomed trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing are available. There are rental and access fees. These are some of the best cross country trails around.

The multi-purpose trails cover over six miles. A mix of level trails around the lake and slightly steeper trails climb the woods to the north and west. Most trails are wide enough to walk two-across. In general, the trails are in good shape without tripping hazards. Fall does bring migrating Canada Geese and their mess as they settle in the lake area.
