Richard Millage enlisted on December 8, 1943. He was killed in action on October 3, 1944 on Peleliu Island in the South Pacific while in the Marine Corps. He was a graduate of Owego Free Academy in 1941. He was survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. John Millage of Barton. He is buried in the Barton Center Cemetery. 

He is also honored on a memorial at the Owego Courthouse square for WW II in Owego, New York.
