More details
While there is no swimming, boating, or camping allowed, Hawkins Pond Nature Area is a great place to visit. It is one of the more secluded places in the Broome County Park system. The habitat is varied from the pond, marsh, and meadow areas to dense spruce on steeper grounds. The trails are such that a variety of loops of different distances are possible without a lot of back tracking. You can extend this even more with the adjacent State Forest and the isolated roads. Some of the trails are very muddy in spring, so keep that in mind.
