Robert Lincoln Agan enlisted in May 1942. He was attached to the Air Transport command (1211th Army Air Force Base Unit) which was located in what is today Yemen, but at the time was the British protectorate of Aden. Lieutenant Agan died when his plane crashed returning from India. on April 15, 1945.  The crash was on Masira Island, Oman. Agan was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School. He was survived by his wife, the former Mary Jane Norton of Binghamton.

Robert is buried at the North Africa American Cemetery and Memorial, Carthage, Tunis, Tunisia. He also has a memorial grave at Fayetteville Cemetery, Fayetteville, New York.

Note: Some newsclippings list Agan's death as in "Europe" erroneously.
