Enlisted March 11, 1943
Died September 30, 1944
Age 19

Harold Kenner enlisted on March 11, 1943 in Pennsylvania. He was attached to the 401st Glider Infantry Regiment 101st Airborne Division. He was killed in the Netherlands September 30, 1944 by German forces while fighting in the Kiekberg Woods as part of Operation Market Garden. The exact circumstances were unknown and his remains were not found at that time.

In 1987, the Netherlands National Territorial Command was contacted by an anonymous source, reporting recovered human remains in the Kiekberg Woods. The remains were transferred to US authorities in 1992. Analysis in 1998 were unable to determine if this was a missing US service man and the remains were returned to the Netherlands in 2001. With advances in forensic science and other remains of soldiers being found, the remains were moved back to the US and in 2006 analysts were able to associate these remains with PFC Kenner on February 5, 2011.
